BURBANK, Calif. --

A non-injury fire involving a transformer prompted the evacuation Monday of John Burroughs High School in Burbank, authorities said.

The fire was reported late Monday morning at the campus in the 1900 block of Clark Avenue, a Burbank police officer said.

Students were evacuated to an athletic field while firefighters extinguished the electrical fire, which originated in a basement beneath the auditorium, a Burbank firefighter said.

Crews worked to vent the smoke from the building. Investigators sought the cause of the blaze.
