Pennsylvania Fire Truck Overturns

June 26, 2006
Both firefighters suffered minor injuries.

Two Northern Cambria men suffered minor injuries when the pumper truck they were traveling in overturned on Interstate 99 early Sunday morning.

The truck belonged to the Northern Cambria Volunteer Fire Company and was at the Saxton Fire Company on standby while that station hosted a convention.

Albert Iegars was driving the truck back to Northern Cambria for the night; David Hassen Jr. was his passenger.

As the truck traveled near milepost 27 near the Duncansville bridge, the left rear tire blew, causing the truck to swerve.

Iegars tried to regain control and was unable to do so because of the water in the tank.

The truck traveled onto the median, hit soft dirt and rolled twice, coming to a rest on its side, blocking the northbound lanes.

I-99 was closed about 21/2 hours on the northbound side while the wreckage was cleared.

The Duncansville Volunteer Fire Company, Duncansville Ambulance and Southern Cove Ambulance Company assisted at the scene.
