PARMA, Ohio --
Rescue workers have extricated a man who was trapped in a collapsed trench in Parma Thursday afternoon.
The rescue took place at a home on Grantwood Avenue, where workers were waterproofing a basement.
The trench collapsed around 1:30 p.m., burying the worker up to his chest. The victim remained alert and was given oxygen as the workers continued their effort. Rescue workers were able to pull him out around 3:20 p.m.
The man is being transported by a MetroHealth Life-Flight helicopter.
