More than 30 residents of a Little Havana apartment building were forced out of their homes by fire late Thursday night.
It took firefighters several hours to douse the blaze that ignited inside the three-story building on the 800 block of Southwest 23rd Avenue.
"We're hitting it from all different sides with our aerial ladders and also ground hoses," Miami Fire Rescue spokesman Ignatius Carroll said Thursday night.
Firefighters were still at the scene on Friday morning, keeping an eye on hot spots.
The building's alarm system alerted residents and officials said everyone inside got out safely. One person was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The Red Cross is assisting residents.
"All 30 residents have been displaced. We'll be providing them with shelter," said Carlos Clandon of the Red Cross.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
