Two people escaped from a burning house in Seattle's Rainier Valley late Monday night, firefighters said.
Firefighters arrived at about 11:15 p.m. to find flames shooting from the home in the 4600 block of 43rd Avenue South.
"There was just a wall of flames. The whole back of the house concerned (us). The area about the rear deck area collapsed," said Deputy Chief Michael Jurus.
The fire took firefighters an hour to get under control.
"They had heavy fire in the basement and then it spread up through the walls, causing fires on the first floor, second floor and up in the attack," Jurus said.
The Red Cross is helping to house the two people who escaped.
