He pleaded innocent during the hearing Thursday.

A Wayne Township firefighter arrested while wearing a bikini in a Mason park appeared in court Thursday.

Stephen Cole pleaded not guilty to driving while under the influence, open container of alcohol and disorderly conduct charges.

Police said Cole was intoxicated when he was pulled over after a citizen called to say Cole was wearing a bikini in the park.

In a police report, an officer said Cole told them he was on his way to Dayton to try to win $10,000 by performing as a woman.

The judge ordered Cole to undergo a mental evaluation and forbid him from entering any parks in Mason. Cole is petitioning to get a restricted drivers license so he can go to work.

"He is deeply embarrassed. He's got a family to think of and the future of his employment is at stake right now. All I can tell you is that he is humiliated," Cole's attorney Charles Rittgers said.

Cole has been placed on administrative leave by the Wayne Township Fire Department.

A trial date has been set for late May.
