An Arlington firefighter was injured overnight battling a fire that investigators said was intentionally set.

Firefighters were called to the Woodwind Apartments on the 1600 block of South Cooper Street just after 11:30 p.m. Sunday night. When firefighters arrived they reported heavy smoke from one apartment and were quickly able to contain the fire.

While battling the fire, one of the firefighters fell on his knee and suffered minor injuries. The firefighter was transported to an area hospital and is expected to be OK.

In all, one unit was damaged by fire while adjacent units suffered water and smoke damage.

There were no other reported injuries.

Investigators told NBC 5 that they believe the fire was set by a resident's ex-boyfriend who was recently released from jail.

Arlington police said they have taken one person into custody for questioning in connection with the fire.
