Suspect Pleads Guilty in Arson That Killed Two Memphis Firefighters

The 2003 blaze left two Memphis firefighters dead and injured another.

MEMPHIS, Tenn.-- Suspect Anthony Paul Shaw has pled guilty to a July 15, 2003 arson that resulted in the deaths of Memphis Firefighters Trent Kirk and Charles Zachary, according to the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee.

Firefighter Tim Scott was also injured in the blaze that destroyed a Family Dollar store.

Shaw, who was the store's manager, agreed to a sentence of 50 years in prison, pending approval of the court. Shaw is scheduled to be sentenced on June 29.

According to the plea agreement, Shaw plead guilty to two counts of arson resulting in death and one count of arson resulting in personal injuries
