Fire crews battled a two-alarm fire Friday night at the Sumner House apartment building at 57 Sumner St.
The flames broke out at about 10:30 p.m. inside the multi-story building for elderly and rehabbing residents, and the fire was reported out about 45 minutes later, authorities said.
Many of the 79 units in the building were evacuated, and at least one disabled person needed rescue from the fifth floor, fire officials said.
At least five ambulances were called to the scene to help victims with smoke inhalation.
