San Diego Firefighters Rescue Workers After Wall Collapse

It took about 50 minutes to get one of the workers out.

Two workers digging a trench in San Diego had to be rescued Monday after a retaining wall collapsed on top of them.

The collapse occurred just before noon near the intersection of 52nd Street and Orange Avenue in City Heights.

According to San Diego fire officials, three workers were involved. One worker was able to free himself, but firefighters had to rescue the other two men.

It took about 50 minutes to get one of the workers out. That man was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
