Vandals Torch Pennsylvania Buses

No one was hurt in the fires.

Authorities were still trying to figure out who torched two area school buses Wednesday night.

One bus went up in flames and the fire spread to a neighboring parked bus at a Yardley Avenue bus yard, investigators explained. They said both were substitute vehicles that were not in service for Pennsbury School District in Bucks County, so it did not affect any routes.

No one was injured in the blaze, authorities said.

Still, investigators said they are considering the fire to be suspicious.

The fire occurred two days after police announced Pennsbury bus driver John McCleary was at fault for hitting 20 high school students in January.

Police said McCleary accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brake on a substitute vehicle he was driving, a statement McCleary denied.

A representative of the school district said officials believed the timing of the suspicious fire and the release of the accident report were coincidental.
