Omaha firefighters were called to an apartment in the Richland Park Complex near 116th and Burt streets about 8:30 Sunday morning.
Newswatch Seven's reporter on the scene said there was heavy smoke and flames in the area, and the roof of one of the buildings was caving in.
Officials said everyone was evacuated from the complex.
Neighbors told KETV they did not hear fire alarms, so they had to go door to door and get people out of the complex.
One of the residents said a candle fell on the bed and before she knew it, the whole wall was on fire.
It took an hour and a half to get the fire under control. A fire investigation has been opened to determine a cause.
