Four people were injured, one critically, in a Sunday morning house fire in West Philadelphia, fire investigators said.
The most seriously injured were a 15-year-old boy and a 55-year-old woman, who jumped from a second-story window of the home on North 50th Street to escape the blaze, according to Philadelphia Fire Commissioner Lloyd Ayers.
A 12-year-old boy and a 38-year-old man were also hurt, fire officials said. One victim was in critical condition early Sunday and the others were listed in serious condition, fire officials said.
The fire broke out just after midnight on the second floor, Ayers said. The cause of the fire was under investigation Sunday.
Ayers said the home had smoke detectors, but the batteries were dead.
