Seattle firefighters working for over two hours finally removed a man trapped in a trench in White Center just before 6 p.m. Friday.

According to KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reporter Deborah Horne the man did not survive.

Video from Chopper 7 showed firefighters using shovels and their hands to move dirt out of a space between two houses, where a man was reported buried after a rockery collapsed on him.

A crane was called in to remove three-3,000 pound cement blocks that collapsed on top of the trapped man.

A vacuum truck normally used to clean storm drains was used in the operation, which is in the 9400 block of 13th Avenue.

Police have closed off streets in the area.
