A warehouse partially collapsed after it caught fire in southwest Houston Wednesday morning, KPRC Local 2 reported.
Houston firefighters responded to the inferno in the 9000 block of Boone Road near Bissonnet Street at about 4:30 a.m.
Crews said they saw smoke and flames when they arrived at the scene. They also heard several explosions in the back of the building.
"It appears to be settling oxygen bottles," Capt. Curtis Williams said.
Firefighters went into defensive mode because the flames were too fierce.
"We took a defensive posture, upwind and out of the way, until we got a reasonable water supply going," Williams said.
Officials said the warehouse contained construction materials and boats.
Hazardous materials investigators said there were no dangerous chemicals inside the building.
The warehouse was completely destroyed.
Arson investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
