A police officer and firefighters are earning praise for their heroic action following a fiery end to a police chase.
The pursuit ended at about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday night at the intersection of 10th and Tecumseh streets.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police said it began with a report of a carjacking on South Gladstone Avenue.
Police said Henry Foust and Joyce Biven took off in a black Toyota Corolla and crashed into a pickup truck.
An officer and firefighter pulled two victims, Lola Hodge and Billy Napier, from the truck after it had caught fire.
"Officers were able to pull the two occupants of the white Dodge Ram out of a burning vehicle at that time, with the help of the fire department," said IMPD Capt. Lorenzo Lewis.
Hodge and Napier were taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital, where Hodge was listed in fair condition Wednesday. Napier was treated and released.
Foust and Biven were taken to a hospital and placed under arrest. Their injuries were not believed to be serious.
