Fire investigators say a fortunate turn of events helped save a south Charlotte restaurant when a storage area caught fire.

The flames started outside of Harpers restaurant on Fairview Road around 1:30 a.m. Monday. A pipe in the building burst, spraying water that helped put out the blaze.

No one was hurt during the fire, but it did cause about $30,000 in damage. The fire has been ruled accidental.
