Memorial Fund for Ohio Firefighter Killed in Crash

Firefighters have set up a memorial fund for the family of a Findlay firefighter who was killed Monday in an off-duty car crash.

FINDLAY -- Firefighters have set up a memorial fund for the family of a Findlay firefighter who was killed Monday in an off-duty car crash.

Kevin W. Gossard, 37, of Mount Cory, Ohio, died when his van was hit by a train about 4:40 p.m. on Eagle Township Road 79, southwest of Findlay.

Fire Chief Tom Lonyo said Mr. Gossard joined the fire department in March, 1997, and had worked in the emergency room at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center.

Local 381 of the International Association of Firefighters has set up a memorial fund in care of Mr. Gossard’s widow, Jessica, at the Millstream Area Credit Union.

The chief said the couple has six children.
