Red Flag Warning Means San Diego Wildfire Risk is High

Oct. 27, 2006
The warning will remain in effect until 11 a.m. Saturday.
High winds combined with single-digit humidity levels and warmer temperatures will create a high risk of wildfire Thursday in San Diego County's inland regions, forecasters said. The conditions prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Red Flag Warning for the valleys and mountains. The warning will remain in effect until 11 a.m. Saturday. A Wind Advisory was also in effect Thursday in the region, where winds of between 35 and 45 miles per hour were expected. Gusts could clock in at up to 60 miles per hour and make driving difficult, especially for large vehicles, according to the weather service, and blowing sand and dust could reduce roadway visibility to near zero. The Wind Advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. Thursday.
