Child Dies In Fort Worth Fire

A 5-year-old boy is dead and his grandparents are in critical condition after a late-night fire in Fort Worth.

Officials said the fire started just after 11 p.m. at the family's home on East Harvey Street.

Firefighters said they found the boy and his grandparents in a middle room of the home where most of the fire damage occurred.

The boy, Lorenzo McKnight, was rushed to nearby Cook Childrens Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. McKnight's grandparents, whose names have not been released, were flown by Careflite to Parkland Hospital and were listed in critical condition.

Firefighters said no working smoke detectors were found inside the home.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
