Schenectady, N.Y.-- A city firefighter was rushed to Albany Medical Center Hospital Thursday afternoon after he fell from a ladder while combating a blaze.

Capt. Robert Moore fell between 25 and 30 feet from the ladder leaned against a Linden street home, said Assistant Fire Chief Michael Della Rocco.

It appeared Moore lost his balance when a stream of water burst through a hose he was holding, he said.

"When the line was charged and filled with water under pressure, that's when the incident occurred," Della Rocco said.

Moore's condition was unknown late Thursday night. Della Rocco said it is possible he has since been released from the hospital.

Della Rocco didn't know the nature or severity of the injuries.

People were in the two-family home when the fire started, but they were out by the time firefighters arrived on the scene. The home sustained moderate damage. No cause for the fire was determined, Della Rocco said, but it was not determined to be suspicious.
