July 13, 2005 -- With New Yorkers still nervous about the safety of mass transit in the wake of last week's London terror bombings, cops are investigating a bizarre incident in which a man threatened to blow himself up in a Brooklyn subway station yesterday.
It's not believed the threat was credible, police sources said.
The man walked into the 86th Street R-line station near Fourth Avenue in Bay Ridge at about 5 a.m.
He was wearing a backpack on his chest
