DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) -- Dothan firefighters and law enforcement officials are increasing their presence around Dothan High School after a series of arson attempts and false fire alarms.

Fire engine companies will be stationed at the school until the end of the academic year on May 26. The companies will rotate every two hours between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., and an additional resource officer also has been assigned to the school.

''We're trying to be highly visible and ensure there are no future incidents as we have had back in April with the fires in the bathrooms,'' Dothan Fire Marshal Eddie Munn said. ''We want to make sure these kids get out of school next Thursday safe and sound.''

Munn said there have been four fire-related incidents at Dothan High School, as well as 15 to 20 pulled fire alarms since April.

Toilet paper dispensers were ignited in school bathrooms in three arson attempts, and someone also set fire to pine straw bales stacked next to a maintenance shed at the school last week. The fire damaged the shed's roof and scorched the outside walls. A witness reported seeing two youths running away from the back of the high school.

Munn said investigators have no suspects, and several people could be involved.

A $1,500 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
