A San Jose firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion Tuesday after fighting a single-alarm blaze at a two-story home.

The firefighter was hospitalized but later released.

The fire at the 1200 block of Eagle Valley Court ignited shortly after 1 p.m. when workers were installing an air conditioning unit. Sparks ignited and the wall caught fire, spreading the flames to the second story, said San Jose Fire Capt. Allison Cabral. The blaze was under control an hour later.

No other injuries were reported. Damage was estimated at $20,000.
