ADELPHI, Md. (AP) -- Neighbors and firefighters say a young boy fled a burning Adelphi home in his pajamas and tried to get help for an elderly woman still trapped inside.

The woman was found dead inside the home on Truxton Road. Neighbors say the woman was the boy's grandmother, though her name hasn't been released.

A Prince George's County firefighter says the boy ran to a neighbor's home, and the neighbor called 9-1-1.

The fire broke out just before nine p-m, and the house was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.

An autopsy will determine the victim's exact cause of death.

The cause of the fire and an estimate of damages aren't known.
