A firefighter suffered minor burns while battling a house fire Sunday morning that killed two dogs.

Firefighters were called at 1:59 a.m. to the 3000 block of Bien Way, where neighbors reported seeing flames engulf the East San Jose home, a dispatcher said.

An early report indicated that people were trapped inside, though firefighters found no one in the residence. The bodies of two dogs were later discovered.

A firefighter, whose name was not released, suffered second-degree burns on the right shoulder, the dispatcher said. The firefighter was taken to a hospital, treated and released.
