Fire Guts Several Buildings in Stevenson, Alabama

STEVENSON, Ala. (AP) -- A major fire destroyed at least one of the main buildings in downtown Stevenson early Monday.

A Stevenson Fire Department spokesman said the Bogart Flowers and Gifts building was declared a total loss in the fire reported about 4 a.m. There were no injuries.

Radio station WGAD reported that firefighters from 10 different departments, including from South Pittsburgh, Tenn., battled the fire in the historic old building.

The fire is under investigation. Stevenson is located in Jackson County near the Tennessee line.
