JOHNSTOWN, N.D. (AP) -- A fire at a fertilizer plant here destroyed the second floor of the two-story building.

No one was injured in the blaze late Thursday. Authorities did not immediately determine the cause, said Greg Moen, fire chief in nearby Gilby.

Witnesses reported an explosion and fire around 9 p.m. in Johnstown, which is about 30 miles northwest of Grand Forks. Emergency crews from nearby towns and Grand Forks County arrived at the scene, and the flames were put out about 45 minutes later.

The building is owned by the Forest River Farmers Elevator, and usually holds dry fertilizers and chemicals.
