BOSTON (AP) -- Four Boston firefighters were taken to a hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries Wednesday night after a series of small explosions in the basement of a North End residential building.

Fire department spokesman Lt. David Pfeil said the one-alarm fire at 287 Hanover Street was reported just before 10 p.m.

Pfeil said the firefighters were taken to Massachusetts General Hospital, where spokeswoman Sue McGreevey said all four were listed in good condition.

There were no reports of other injuries.
