PUTNAM, Conn. (AP) -- An explosion Friday morning destroyed one house and set two other homes ablaze, authorities said.

A gas leak was reported shortly before the explosion at 10:30 a.m. at a multifamily home on Fremont Street, said Brian Adams, a dispatcher with the Putnam fire department.

The home was destroyed but, no injuries were reported, Adams said.

The house was under renovation at the time, and nobody was inside, WINY-AM reported.

The explosion also destroyed several cars and set two nearby houses on fire, authorities said.

Firefighters from five departments were fighting the blaze Friday morning.
