Horry County Fire Rescue was awarded $48,206 through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Office for Domestic Preparedness, the county announced Monday.
The funds will be used on materials for Fire and Life Safety Education program.
The funding also will cover smoke alarms for the hearing impaired, equipment and materials to provide community CPR training, and safety materials for adults and children in Spanish and English.
Over the next several weeks, the items will be purchased and made available to the community through public education programs.
