Anchorage, AK -- Four firefighters are recovering from second-degree chemical burns tonight after fighting a house fire in Ketchikan.
The fire broke out yesterday in a triplex owned by state Rep. Jim Elkins. The firefighters are receiving treatment for burns on their necks, arms and shoulders after a chemical breached their protective gear.
Officials say the chemical might have been nitric acid that was stored in the attic.
There's no word on what caused the blaze. The Ketchikan Fire Department estimates damage to the building at $90,000.
