One Dead in Crash of Small Airplane in Oklahoma
FLETCHER, Okla. (AP) -- One person was killed Thursday when a small airplane crashed into a Comanche County field, authorities said.
The aircraft fell to earth about 5:30 p.m. and disintegrated on impact, officials said. Witnesses said the plane appeared to be performing stunts when it fell from the sky.
It careened into a field near a private airstrip south of Fletcher, authorities said. The identity of the victim was not immediately available.
Local firefighters were at the scene of the crash Thursday evening although no fire was reported. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol and Comanche County authorities were investigating the crash.
