THOMPSON, Conn. (AP) -- The Christmas Day fire that destroyed a maintenance building at the Thompson International Speedway and Raceway Golf Course was arson, state police said.

State police Monday said investigators ruled the fire was set and have appealed to residents for information to key in on the arsonist.

Several fire departments responded to the blaze, but the 3,000-square-foot building was destroyed. An adjacent building also had extensively damage.

The building contained equipment used in the maintenance of the golf course and has been determined to be a total loss, police said.
