BOWIE, Md. (AP) -- A home was destroyed Sunday by a fire that started in a recreational vehicle parked outside, Prince George's County fire officials said.

The blaze on Harwood Lane was likely sparked by an electrical problem in the RV, then spread to the home and was fueled by a propane tank, officials said.

Firefighters had a difficult time working against the intense flames because dozens of people had gathered in the street to watch, Maj. Victor Fleming told WJLA TV. Many people abandoned their cars, keeping some fire trucks from getting to the scene and blocking a fire hydrant.

Despite the delays, everyone inside the home got out safely. They are staying with relatives.

Damage is estimated at $425,000.
