Safety Chairman Exposes Flaws After New Jersey Fire
FORKS TWP. -- Wednesday's fire at Victaulic Company brought to light fire extinguishers past due for inspection and a cumbersome loudspeaker system employees bypassed to sound the evacuation call.
Ken Hank, chairman of the safety committee for the United Steelworkers of America Local 2599 Unit 26, explained these problems in an interview Thursday. The union covers workers at the 4901 Kesslersville Road plant in Forks Township, where the fire occurred, and at the 1326 Tatamy Road plant in Palmer Township.
