(High Bridge-WABC, June 10, 2005) -- A grisly murder in the Bronx, this morning police are trying to figure out who killed a man and left him badly burned.
Eyewitness News reporter Jen Maxfield is live at the scene in High Bridge with the latest.
Rescue workers made the gruesome discovery in a remote wooded area next to a Yankee Stadium parking lot. They found the body of a Hispanic man in his 20s or 30s, who had set on fire and dumped under the Macombs Dam Bridge.
The young murder victim sustained serious head trauma before he was set on fire on the bridge, at 161st Street and Jerome Avenue. Firefighters were called to the scene just before 2:30 this morning.
Firefighters accessed the body through a hole in the fence and put out the body.
The Medical examiner's office is on the scene now. An autopsy will be conducted later on today. Because of the charred condition of the body, police still have not yet identified the body.
