Two Family Home Burns in Irvington, New Jersey

(Irvington-WABC, January 27, 2005) -- A huge fire forced 11 people to evacuate their homes in Irvington, New Jersey this morning. Newscopter 7 is over the scene. Let's check in with John Delgiorno.

The fire department believed they had this fire out at around 5:00 a.m. but it flared up again.

It hit on Columbia Avenue in Irvington, just a few blocks north of Clinton Avenue and only a few blocks west of the Garden State Parkway.

Eleven people were evacuated from the two family house, three adults and several children all evacuated and rescued without injury. They are being housed in temporary shelter.

The fire department had this knocked down by 5:00 a.m., but it flared up to the point where they pulled all their personnell out of the building later in the morning, fighting it from the outside only.
