Pembroke Pines, Florida Firefighters Protest Sick Leave Policy

Pembroke Pines, FL -- A small group of firefighters picketed in front of Pembroke Pines City Hall on Wednesday, saying the city's sick leave policy is endangering them.

The protesters say the policy forces firefighters who are in danger of heart attacks, strokes and other illnesses to work when they should be off. Last week, they made those same allegations during a City Commission meeting

Mayor Frank Ortis said he could not comment because it would violate employees' due process rights.
