CASS CITY, Mich. (AP) -- A disabled woman and her elderly father were killed early Thursday in a house fire in Michigan's Thumb region.
Cass City Fire Chief Ron Pawloski said the two victims were wheelchair-bound and were the only ones home. The woman had multiple sclerosis, he said. The woman's husband, who had been at work, arrived on the scene after firefighters.
Firefighters were called at about 3:45 a.m. EST. When they arrived, the two-story brick house was completely engulfed in flames, and they were unable to enter, Pawloski said.
``It had been burning quite a while before anyone noticed it,'' he said.
Cass City is located about 40 miles east of Bay City and 100 miles north of Detroit.
