LAURNES, Iowa (AP) -- Students at Laurens Marathon can return to class Wednesday after a fire shut the school down last week, fire officials said.

The fire started in the industrial arts shop January 17. No one was injured but damage was estimated at $400,000.

The industrial shop room and the second floor high school classrooms will remain closed for the time. High school students should bring book bags, paper and writing utensils until they are able to access their normal lockers, Superintendent Michael Wright said.

The cause of fire is still be investigated.

About 450 students in grades K-12 attend Laurens Marathon.
