MOUNTAIN LAKE PARK, Md. (AP) -- A fire of an unknown origin destroyed a sawmill and caused an estimated $3 million worth of damage at Sisler Lumber Inc., officials say.
The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office was investigating the cause of the blaze Wednesday.
It took firefighters five hours to control the flames that consumed the two-story building early Tuesday morning, the agency said.
The fire was discovered by Oakland resident Mike Glotfelty, who was delivering the Times-News.
Sisler Lumber has been a family owned business since its founding in 1958 and has been operating at its present location along Route 135 since 1972. The business employs 55 people, the Cumberland Times News reported.
