Three-Alarm Blaze Rocks New York Apartment Building

Early Thursday morning, a three-alarm fire burned in a large hi-rise in Chinatown, critically injuring one resident.

(Chinatown- September 9, 2004) -- Early Thursday morning, a three-alarm fire burned in a large hi-rise in Chinatown, critically injuring one resident.

The blaze broke out on the 37th floor of 20 Confucius Plaza just after 6:30 a.m.. The fire spread to apartments 37B and 37D of the 44 story high-rise.

One resident of the hi-rise was critically injured, and several firefighters were also being treated for smoke inhalation.

Braking glass from the windows is falling from the hi-rise to the street.

Bowery was been closed from Division to Canal streets.

The large apartment building is located at the foot of the Manhattan Bridge.

Around 7:15 a.m., the fire was out.
