SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) -- Fire investigators in Spartanburg County were trying to determine the cause of a weekend fire that killed two people.

Bradford Murphy, 36, died in the fire at his home Saturday morning. His 8-year-old daughter, Savanna Murphy, died Sunday evening at an Augusta, Ga., hospital.

Murphy's wife, Billie and 13-year-old daughter Amanda Holmes, escaped the flames.

Croft Fire Chief Lewis Hayes said the fire appeared to have been accidental and may have started in the attic. The origin of a fire usually burns the longest and has the most damage. The roof was destroyed, he said.
