YORK, Pa. (AP) -- An electrical fire destroyed five adjoining rowhomes, leaving 26 people homeless, including 10 children, officials said.

Firefighter Scott Ott was injured when debris fell onto his shoulder as he battled the blaze. There were no other injuries reported.

Natalie Brown said she was watching television with two of her children around 6:30 p.m. Saturday when her 8-year-old son ran downstairs and said his bed was on fire. She fled the house with the children.

''I'm just thanking God that it happened early while we were still up,'' she said.

The blaze destroyed most of his family's possessions, though Brown said she was grateful that firefighters recovered her late father's ashes.
