DENVER (AP) -- A commuter bus with no passengers aboard burst into flames Tuesday morning and was quickly destroyed, but the driver escaped unharmed.
No one else was on the bus and no injuries were reported.
The Regional Transportation District said the bus was eastbound on Interstate 76 at about 6:20 a.m. when the driver noticed a problem and pulled over. He saw flames after he got out.
Firefighters rushed to the scene and brought the fire under control after about 20 minutes. The bus, a large intercity model, was a total loss.
The cause was not immediately known.
The interstate was closed briefly in both directions, but westbound lanes reopened shortly after the incident.
