GAY, Mich. (AP) -- A 33-year-old woman died of apparent smoke inhalation after she was pulled out of her burning home.
Firefighters responding to a call Saturday found Heather Lauren lying in the hallway. They pulled her out, and she was transported to Keweenaw Memorial Medical Center in Laurium. Lauren died a short time later en route from Keweenaw Memorial to Marquette General Hospital, Keweenaw County Sheriff Ron Lahti told The Daily Mining Gazette of Houghton.
Lauren was home alone at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
