AUBURN, Ala. (AP) -- A pre-dawn fire destroyed the clubhouse at the public Indian Pines Golf Course in Auburn.
There were no injuries in the fire reported at 3 a.m. Saturday. About 60 Auburn firefighters responded to the call.
Golf course manager Kevin Pettit said apparently the fire alarm didn't sound and that's being investigated. Someone at a nearby store spotted the blaze.
Pettit said a wedding party had planned to use the clubhouse for a reception.
''I don't know her name, but I am really sorry,'' he said.
Pettit hopes to reopen the course Thursday or Friday, possibly using a trailer to handle customers.
Fire Battalion Chief Dean Garrett said it's too early to tell what caused the fire.
