Fire extensively damaged an antique store and a restaurant Sunday in a National Register historic district in downtown Lexington, Mo.
Three other buildings in the 900 block of Main Street received smoke damage. All the businesses were closed, and no one was hurt.
The state fire marshal was called to investigate.
A passer-by called 911 at 10:48 a.m. to report smoke coming from the antique store. Fire officials think the blaze started in the store and spread eastward to a Mexican restaurant.
Assistant Fire Chief David Soendker said there was extensive damage to both buildings.
Firefighters from Lexington and several neighboring agencies fought the blaze for at least two hours, Soendker said. They spent another hour dousing hot spots.
The buildings were built in the mid-1800s.
