Firefighters and police officers are accustomed to working when everybody else is off, but one fire station in Biloxi was rewarded for its hard work with a good meal.

The Olive Garden restaurant delivered lunch Monday to the Bay Vista Fire Department on Pass Road, and the four firefighters working said there was enough food for two meals.

"This is amazing," Ryan Jenkins said. "It's great of them to do this."

Someone from the restaurant delivered a large pan of lasagna, two trays of salad with dressing, croutons and bread sticks.

Olive Garden restaurants all over the country have provided meals to police officers and firefighters on Labor Day for the past three years, said Tim West, manager of the Biloxi restaurant.

"We've been doing this to develop relationships with the community," he said. "This is to support the people who support us. We know a lot of those guys."

The firefighters said they hoped the day wouldn't be too busy but said they were on call in case of an emergency. Besides Jenkins, those working were Capt. Robert McInnis, Doug Korbe and Timothy Shropshire.

"I don't know if we would have enough for anybody else," Korbe said, laughing as he opened the containers. "This will be enough for lunch and supper."
